About Us
CP3 is an interdisciplinary research group dedicated to studying the relationship between personalization algorithms and society. Our research focuses on the feedback loop between social media users and platform algorithms. We incorporate a variety of methods and perspectives that take into account both user agency and technological processes.

CP3 was formed in 2015 as an interdisciplinary reading group based at the University of Iowa’s Obermann Center for Advanced Studies. Over time, CP3 has evolved into a productive research group committed to true interdisciplinarity, guided by the belief that our work is strengthened by incorporating insights, theories, and methodologies from a variety of different academic disciplines.
